Bio:

My name is Lily Dobesh, and I am originally from Minnesota. I moved to Colorado to pursue a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy, with an expected graduation date in May 2026. I hold bachelor's degrees in psychology and Studio Art from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. My studies in psychology sparked my passion for counseling, where I strive to provide space, understanding, psychoeducation, and compassion for all. As a Studio Art major, I discovered both solace in art materials and curiosity about their therapeutic potential.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent 15 years as a dance teacher, working with children and adolescents aged 4–18. This experience deepened my belief in the healing power of the arts, regardless of an individual’s prior exposure to them. Additionally, my work with Child Protective Services gave me valuable insight into the complexities of child development and reinforced the importance of early therapeutic intervention for long-term mental health.

As a clinician, I embrace a client-centered approach, creating a safe and empathetic space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore their personal growth. I also integrate a humanistic perspective, recognizing the significance of understanding each individual’s unique experience while fostering self-awareness and promoting holistic healing.

Additionally, as an Art Therapist, I integrate different art materials into sessions to suit the comfort level of each client. Art Materials are often used for understanding, assessment, and communication of common and uncommon stressors. One of my favorite parts about Art Therapy is that the Art materials can be used to express the "in-expressible".

Outside of therapy, I enjoy teaching and coaching dance, spending time with family and friends, and continuing my education. I love reading, writing, and expressing myself through various creative outlets.
