Bio:

I come from a family of social workers, therapists and teachers.  When it was time to choose my career in 1999/2000, there was no question about the direction I would go. I have spent much of my career in the child welfare realm, in clinical and supervisory roles. I currently work with adults 18 years and older, via confidential video tele-therapy and in-person, office visits.

Since working in private practice, my passion has centered around perinatal mental health. With 1 in 8 women experiencing anxiety, depression and life adjustment during this time in their lives (and beyond), I enjoy and am honored to provide this essential support to women and their families. It is a joy to see the truth that with treatment, women do get better. I am a member of, and trained through the Postpartum Support International (PSI).

I have also found an interest and a niche in working with couples. I practice using the Gottman Method from a renowned leader and researcher in this work, John Gottman. Over the years, I learned couples benefit from therapy during any point in their relationship.

I use a whole systems approach in my work, and humor when appropriate! I see humor as essential in life. My therapeutic approaches tend to fall more along the lines of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where we identify potential faulty thinking that may be leading to unhelpful behavior. I also study and incorporate Mindfulness approaches that focus on connecting the mind and body. I particularly value the mental health benefits in the practice of yoga. I study the work of Brene Brown and Glennon Doyle Melton by incorporating their research and work on shame, guilt, authenticity and self-love. I am also involved in work and participate in a group that focuses on solidarity against racial injustice, and consider myself an advocate for other stigmatized groups.

In addition to providing outpatient mental health therapy and operating Solace Counseling (going into our 5th year), I also teach undergraduate Social Work students as an adjunct professor at a local college, as well as provide supervision to budding social workers/therapists.

I have lived in four states, 3 of which I attended college, the fourth one I sat in traffic (Chicago, IL)! Colorado has been calling my name from Nebraska for as long as I can remember. I finally made it out here in 2006 and found myself immersed into the mountain culture. I earned my Master degree in Social Work from University of Denver in 2006!

I am an Erie resident and am passionate about providing support within my own growing community, and the surrounding areas. I have a middle schooler, a 2nd grader, and a Labradoodle!
